This W dazzles with its modern, cosmopolitan take on regional design.
In Mexico’s idyllic Nayarit region, W Punta de Mita sits on Banderas Bay, a quintessential holiday destination studded with scenic white sand beaches, charming local villages and an abundance of water-based recreation activities. Design is a highlight, from the lobby backdrop crafted to resemble traditional papel picado paper cutouts, to the geometric sunbeds at WET oceanfront infinity pool. Hichoal folk art is also reimagined here in unique, beaded sculptures. Overall, the look is colorful, tropical, playful and laid-back.
Boxy, modern architecture houses 119 vibrant guest rooms (including 13 luxury suites). Private patios or balconies are standard, and amenities include flat-screen TVs, mini-bars, Bliss bath products and the W's signature Munchie Boxes. Ocean View Escape rooms add bathtubs on enclosed, open-roofed patios. The hotel has its own private beach, a full-service AWAY Spa, a FIT fitness center with a sundeck for yoga sessions and a sexy Living Room with DJs, cocktails and small plates. Spice Market Beach from chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten brings creative Asian cuisine south of the border, while mesa1 invites guests to enjoy a private seven-course tasting menu on an "island" in the middle of a water feature. Among the bars, Chevicheria stands out, situated on the sand and integrated into a 1950s Chevrolet 3800 truck.
