An excellent location adds waterfront views to the appeal of this historic hotel.
The Art Deco style of the once-famous Farmers department store has been beautifully preserved as a hotel overlooking Auckland's waterfront and business district. Extensive facilities at this 1920s gem include two gyms, a heated rooftop swimming pool, an indoor heated lap pool, a tennis court and two restaurants. Hectors is set in an impressive seven-story atrium, and serves a menu that focuses on sustainability and health, with vegan and vegetarian dishes cooked in a section of the kitchen that is entirely animal-product free.
There are plenty of business-friendly extras at the Heritage Auckland, beginning with ten conference venues, banquet rooms and ballrooms on their own dedicated floor, making the hotel ideal for product launches and large conferences. In addition, The Grand Tearoom is popular for weddings; it's white, Art Deco design is reminiscent of a sumptuous wedding cake, providing a memorable setting for receptions. Guest rooms and suites are located in two wings: the original heritage building and a newer modern tower. The style in both is contemporary and understated, and accommodations in the new tower come with convenient residential amenities, such as microwaves, washing machines and dryers. Tower suites provide even more in the self-catering department, with kitchenettes complete with utensils and dishwashers.
