Plaza Grande

Calle García Moreno, N5-16 y Chile Quito

A boutique hotel that provides history and luxury in Quito’s central square.

Originally the home of Spanish conqueror Juan Diaz de Hidalgo, Plaza Grande (known then as Majestic Hotel) was one of the first hotels in Quito. The building has worn a few hats since, as a bank and then administrative offices, but renovations have restored its former glory, particularly noticeable in the lobby's checkerboard floor and dark wood details. With its eclectic and neoclassical architecture in Quito's Plaza de la Independencia, this all-suite boutique hotel features fifteen rooms done in an understated Spanish colonial style: eleven single and double Royal Suites, three Plaza Suites and one Presidential Suite. Amenities include safety boxes, noise-reducing windows, wireless Internet, minibars and Jacuzzis. The Presidential Suite features a lounge, dining room and kitchen, and a bedroom with three balconies overlooking the plaza. The hotel offers three dining options: La Belle Epoque, Café Plaza Grande and El Claustro Wine Cellar.
