An intimate and architecturally unique luxury inn.
Immediately adjacent to the Tlaquepaque shopping area, this is an intimate hacienda-style inn offering just 12 guestrooms, all brimming with individual, handmade touches (even the doors are custom-made). Such accents---reflecting the Arts and Crafts, Art Deco, Art Nouveau and Southwest design movements---are carried throughout the property, giving it a truly boutique feel. This historic, 1910 adobe structure features 200 year-old recycled wood, 18-inch thick adobe block walls (quiet is assured), wood beam ceilings, vintage heater grates and period lighting. Anchoring the inn is a delightful courtyard appointed with colorful Adirondack chairs, fresh cut flowers and a bubbling fountain. El Portal is careful to stress that it is not a B&B or a hotel but a true inn, which means that full breakfasts, not included, are offered at an additional charge. Light afternoon snacks are included.
