A hacienda-style oasis in the middle of town.
This lodge was opened in 1936 and retains the refined style of that time. Sadly, outside, what was once the desert is now a residential area scattered with commercial buildings. Nonetheless, the lodge still provides privacy and a zone of tranquility in its 103 guestrooms, especially since its major renovation in 2008. Mature palm trees tower over the swimming pool, and there are lovely views of the Catalina Mountains off to the north. As you walk through the grounds, you'll be delighted by the orange trees, cactus and other lush plantings that complement the adobe-style architecture and fountains in courtyards. In the guestrooms, look for wood beam ceilings, authentic adobe walls, tiled patios and fireplaces to dispel the chill of the desert at night, in addition to high definition TVs, and wireless Internet. There is a small 44-seat restaurant that serves three meals daily with a Southwestern influence.
