Heritage Inn Bed & Breakfast
A warm-hearted welcome in a historic house.
This traditional B&B lies in a residential neighborhood of San Luis Obispo, just off the freeway. Interestingly, this turn-of-the-20th-century house, which was formerly a boarding house for well-to-do socialite bachelors, has been moved several times from its original location. Now a humble, yet cozy abode, it's the hospitality of the host that makes all the difference here. The country décor comes with antique touches and sports white lace, pastel walls, brass beds and down-to-earth patchwork quilts. Only some of the guest rooms have private bathrooms. A favorite is Auntie's Room, which has its own gas fireplace, a queen-sized bed, and shuttered windows to let in the sunlight. There is a resident cat, so those with allergies should look elsewhere. Well-behaved children are welcome; guests' pets may also be accepted with prior arrangements. The inn is most popular with parents visiting their college students, who are invited to join their family for breakfast.
