A vintage B&B in Cambria village.
There is no mistaking that this quirky inn in a residential area of Cambria has definite character. Admittedly, it's not for everyone, but lovers of early 20th-century style will not want to miss an overnight stay here. The inn's theme is the roaring 1920s, which fits in perfectly with nearby Hearst Castle. All of the rooms are named after movie stars like Mary Pickford and Rudolph Valentino. Each of the eight rooms has cable TV (but no phone) and its own private bathroom, and all are partially furnished with antiques. Many have clawfoot tubs, and a few have gas fireplaces and bay windows. A dozen long-stem roses and terrycloth robes will be waiting upon your arrival, which is a nice touch. Some find the bathrooms too old-fashioned, but that's all part of the vintage charm. The hostess is renowned for attentive service and hot cooked breakfasts, which are served in a dining room with an authentic 19th-century bar from a New York hotel. Rates also include evening hors d'oeuvres and either a bedtime cocktail or cookie.
