A taste of Taos in Central California's wine country.

Wild Coyote Winery Bed & Breakfast

This upstart winery may look as if it would be more at home in the Southwest, but it's charming nonetheless. The five guest rooms are in attached cottages, romantically called casitas. Outside on the stone patio are chairs and tables for soaking up the scenery. Inside there are no telephones or Internet access, as the emphasis is on peace and relaxation. The room interiors have hardwood floors, bright woven rugs with Native American designs, kiva-style fireplaces, exposed timber ceilings, and in a few concessions to modern life, air-conditioning, microwaves, refrigerators, and satellite TVs with VCR and DVD players. Guests have access to an outdoor hot tub and barbecue grill, too. The winery's landscaping is reminiscent of desert xeriscaping, with colors that perfectly match the gorgeous sunsets seen from the hilltop. There's a small boutique winery on the premises, and the rates include not only a continental breakfast, but also a free bottle of wine. There's a two-night minimum stay.
