Relax in the majesty of a bygone era in this historic island gem.

Inn on Mt. Ada

Although the innkeepers call their landmark hotel the Inn on Mt. Ada, everyone else refers to it as the Wrigley mansion, which is how it has been known since it was built by the chewing gum magnate in 1921. Presidents Calvin Coolidge and Warren Harding reportedly stayed here long ago. Nowadays, this posh six-room inn is certainly Catalina's most expensive lodging, and everything is terribly luxurious, with antique-filled rooms overlooking either Avalon and the bay or the Pacific Ocean and San Pedro. Hovering 350 feet above the town and harbor, the hotel offers both the first glimpse of morning sunlight and the last rays at sunset. All guest rooms feature private bathrooms, and most are equipped with fireplaces. Guests can experience the grandeur of the estate in the lovely Queen's Aviary room, which includes a separate sitting room. Or you can opt for a more private retreat in the Grand Suite, which has a living room and a private deck. Room rates include a full breakfast, a light deli lunch and fresh-baked cookies and refreshments in the evenings. Transportation to and from the boat terminal and heliport is provided by the inn's own van. Upon check-in, the inn provides a golf cart for convenient transportation around the island. Children over fourteen are welcomed, but no younger kids, and no pets.
