Sportsmen's Lodge Hotel
A comfy urban hotel designed to inspire visions of a forest retreat.
Originally featuring a rustic, hunting lodge theme, this hotel opened in 1962 next door to the unrelated Sportsmen’s Lodge Restaurant on a pair of manmade lakes stocked with trout and graced with ducks and swans. Motion pictures and TV shows have been shot here over the years, and recording stars and their entire road crews regularly stay. When celebrities such as Clark Gable frequented this quaint setting, rates were $9 for a single room and all of $25 for a suite. Under broughtonHOTELS, the property has been renovated, and although it's lost some of its goofy charm, the sharp new décor pays tribute to the hotel's mid-century heyday. Spacious rooms overlook an Olympic-size heated pool in the courtyard, as well as the very old-fashioned Patio Café and neighboring Caribou restaurant and Muddy Moose Bar. Courtesy shuttle service to Burbank Airport and Universal Studios is available, as are discount tickets for the Universal Studios Tour.
