Stonepine Estate

Old World elegance in beautiful Carmel Valley.

Stonepine Estate

This is one of California's most luxurious resorts. It was built in the 1920s by Helen Crocker Russell, a member of an ultra-wealthy, San Francisco family. Today, it offers first-class accommodations, ranging from luxury suites in the opulent Château Noel to the private Hermes House, an independent, 2,500-square-foot villa. Each of the suites is unique, but all include a Jacuzzi and cozy down bedding inspired by classic designers such as Cartier and Chanel. Most also have wood-burning fireplaces. Lunch is an event, served on the Loggia where nineteenth-century, carved Italian stone arches open onto views of the gardens, waterfall and surrounding mountains. In the afternoons, guests can enjoy tea and Champagne in the Château, surrounded by fresh flowers, fine Oriental rugs, oil paintings and an exquisite limestone fireplace. The property is set amid 330 acres of rolling, oak-dotted hills, and guests are invited to explore the grounds by foot, bicycle or horseback. Stonepine also boasts an "estate" pool, tennis courts, manicured gardens, shuffleboard and archery.
