Colony 29

A secluded, luxury compound with a sprawling main house and five individual cottages.

Colony 29

Colony 29 is more of a compound than a traditional hotel. With a sprawling 5,000-square-foot main house and five spectacular guest cottages, you have the option of reserving the entire estate or just a single accommodation that best suits your needs. The private resort is linked together by a labyrinth of stone pathways that weave along the mountainside with unexpected outdoor tubs, crackling fireplaces and intimate alcoves discovered en route. The five-bedroom main house, built in the 1920s by artist John Burnham, boasts classic Spanish architecture with a pair of master bedrooms --- each on its own floor --- and a total of four and a half baths plus a quartet of fireplaces, two patios and a built-in outdoor bar. The remaining five guest cottages at this former artists’ colony are equally distinctive, ranging from one to three bedrooms with kitchens, swimming pools, private gardens and more. An adult-sized palapa tree house offers a place to meditate with panoramic views. Multiple pools, including a grotto and a secluded guest-only location, make Colony 29 an exclusive oasis for the Palm Springs-bound.
