Los Arboles Hotel

266 Via Altamira (N. Indian Canyon Dr.) Palm Springs CA

Located in the sought-after Movie Colony neighborhood, this 21-room retreat has enjoyed its share of the limelight.

Originally built in 1937, Los Arboles Hotel once catered to a moneyed, sepia-toned Hollywood clientele in a neighborhood now dubbed the Movie Colony. The property even had its own success in films, having been cast as a backdrop in several motion pictures spanning from 1960s through the 1980s before shuttering its doors at the end of the twentieth century. But like any good Hollywood story, this 21-room desert retreat made a comeback. Given a new lease on life, it is proving to be as popular with today’s modern travelers as it was with the leading men and ladies circa 1940. Each room is artfully adorned with colorful Spanish tiles, oversized beds and cozy furnishings. Most rooms open onto the swimming pool, allowing guests to simply roll out of bed and onto a lounger. Los Arboles is also home to one of the desert’s most popular restaurants, El Mirasol, providing an added convenience for hungry guests. Slip into the Jacuzzi undetected, request a massage from the on-call therapist or take a leisurely trek to Palm Canyon Drive to shop. Though Los Arboles might be small, it manages to give guests a full-service experience.
