Hotel Union Square
Dashiell Hammett once bunked in at this trendy boutique hotel.
Originally built in 1913 and renovated in 2008, this 131-room hotel pays homage to "Maltese Falcon" author Dashiell Hammett with a large suite outfitted with memorabilia and 1930s-era décor. While the themed suite is a nod to the past, the rest of the rooms are decidedly modern and feature gray, red and taupe hues, slick furnishings, platform beds and velvet chaise lounges. The hotel's "Sleep and Soak" rooms have extra-large bathrooms with oversize tubs. Complimentary coffee and tea are offered in the lobby in the mornings, and each evening the hotel hosts a wine hour. Notable amenities include free high-speed Internet access, a pet-friendly policy and on-site parking with in-and-out privileges.
