The Gables Inn Sausalito
Historic hotel situated near Sausalito's trendy boutiques.
Built in 1869 as Sausalito's first hotel, this property has also served as a town hall and as a hospital for victims of the flu epidemic of 1919. It was restored to its original glory (and function) in 1995 and, more recently, renovated and expanded. Today, each of the thirteen elegant suites is tastefully done in cream and beige. The ambience is romantic, a mood that is thoughtfully preserved with televisions hidden inside armoires. Some of the rooms feature panoramic views of the bay and San Francisco skyline, and most come with spa tubs. In addition, a few enjoy the added luxury of garden terraces and fireplaces. Continental breakfast is served in the morning (for a $7.50 per person fee), and complimentary wine and cheese are offered in the afternoon.
