The Presidio Motel
A hip boutique motel with a whole lot of style.
Here’s a place that’s proud to call itself a motel. After all, unless you’re going to stay in an Airstream trailer, what could be more retro cool than a boutique motel? The Presidio’s sixteen rooms are adorned with custom-designed vinyl decals that render each one a whimsical work of art --- a canvas of modern expressionism. To be sure, Presidio takes trendy old school style to new heights in Santa Barbara. Complimentary beach cruisers are available to guests, and the property’s location --- on State Street but too far to walk to the beach --- is ideal for mellow cycling. Wi-Fi and continental breakfast are free, and the rates are affordable. Downtown’s restaurants, theaters and nightclubs are either within walking distance or easily reached via a 25-cent trolley. The whole hip package tends to attract the young set, or young-at-heart travelers looking for a motel with a whole lot of soul. If the hotel is booked, its equally stylish younger sister, the Agave Inn, is located a couple miles north.
