The Victorian Rose Bed & Breakfast
Ventura's most unusual lodgings are heaven sent.
This unique bed-and-breakfast inhabits a former Victorian gothic church. The steeple towers nearly 100 feet over Main Street, east of downtown Ventura on a quiet residential block. Guests enter via the parlor inside the former church's sanctuary, which is still overlooked by cherubs. A spiral staircase leads upward to the Emperor's Bedroom, which has a retro Oriental theme inside a converted choir loft. Most of the other rooms are much smaller, but are filled with antiques and have four-poster beds, florid Victorian touches, gas fireplaces and modern air-conditioning. Some also possess patios with distant ocean views. The Wisteria Gardens Room boasts a rock waterfall shower, as well. There are books and board games to borrow from the inn's gorgeous library, as well as an indoor fountain and stained glass windows. Rates include a full gourmet breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese tasting. Guests also have access to a Jacuzzi soaking tub. There is normally a two-night minimum stay.
