An artful retreat just outside the village of Ojai.
To call this place simply a bed-and-breakfast would be a lie. This boutique inn is a hip hang-out with Southwestern flair. Yet it never takes itself too seriously, as evidenced by the signature blue iguana mascot. Flowering trellises and fountains welcome guests upon arrival. Navajo-patterned rugs and fresh flowers adorn the apartment-style suites, which all have kitchens, working fireplaces and one or two bedrooms. Each has more than enough space for families or groups of friends attending weddings and other special events in Ojai. Convenient amenities such as wireless Internet access, free local calls and coffee makers are also included in the rates. Ideal for honeymooners, the two-bedroom bungalow is a detached private house with a full kitchen. All of the low-slung buildings exhibit California Mission-style architecture with terra-cotta roofs, arches and wood-beam railings, in addition to faux-Mediterranean tiles handcrafted by local artists. Leashed dogs are welcome for a surcharge. Cordial and responsive, the staff are sometimes overwhelmed by large groups.
