Avalanche Ranch

Charming and rustic log cabins in which a modern-day Goldilocks can feel right at home.

The Hill Top Cabin at Avalanche Ranch

Guests to this casual, rustic property are welcomed with a heaping plate of fresh cookies and a bulging notebook detailing activities available on the property or nearby. These include hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding in the summer, and snowshoeing and Nordic and downhill skiing in winter. The 12 cozy cabins on this 45-acre ranch were built in the 1950s. They were individually redecorated in the late 1990s with country furniture and vintage fabrics from the owner’s well-stocked antique shop and range in size from a studio to a two-bedroom with a loft. There is also a three-bedroom ranch house that has a fireplace and sleeps up to 10. Each cabin has a full kitchen and a private yard with a grill and picnic table. Front porches overlook Mt. Sopris. Children will enjoy the treehouse and sandbox, as well as singing songs around a campfire in the evening. It’s okay to bring pets, but call ahead.
