The Hotel Telluride
The charm of the Old West meets modern luxury in this boutique mountain hotel.
Leather, tweeds, plaids and antlers team with a huge stone fireplace dress up this hotel's impressive two-story lobby. Hollywood stays here during the film festival, and ski lockers and a shuttle to the gondola (two blocks away) make it popular with skiers during the winter months. Each of the 59 guestrooms---decorated in shades of terracotta and wine---has a balcony or patio with great views of the San Juan Mountains. The walls are decorated with photographs of Native Americans by 19th-century photographer, Edward S. Curtis. The suites, which can be configured as one-, two- or three-bedroom arrangements, have antique furnishings and gas fireplaces. And all rooms come with what the hotel calls The Incredible Bed (feather bed, down comforter, 250-thread-count linens and lots of down pillows) with a suede or leather headboard. The marble bathrooms are equipped with dual sinks, huge tubs, sun lamps, terry robes and Aveda products.
