Elizabeth Pointe Lodge
A taste of romantic Cape Cod on the Florida coast.
This 1890s Nantucket shingle-style inn is a nice alternative on an island filled with Victorian architecture and big resorts. Its gray weathered exterior with clean white trim is somehow comforting. With 20 rooms in the main house, four in the Harris Lodge and the two-bedroom Miller Cottage, this is the place for people who like the casual, friendly ambiance of a B&B without getting too close to fellow guests for comfort. The most charming bedrooms are found in the main lodge. Each is different. In one, the homemade quilt and sprigged wallpaper is soothing rather than busy, and in another dark wood floors and sloped walls create the feeling of a hideaway. Maritime photos and fresh flowers are among the many personal touches you'll find. Transplanted style comes into play once again in the living area, whose stone fireplace looks as if it belongs in a western lodge---it works, though. The beautiful front porch is equipped with rockers; sip lemonade and watch the ocean from this tranquil perch. Complimentary breakfast is served in the oceanfront sun room, and complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres are offered each evening.
