Kona Kai Resort & Gallery
Orchids and art on display at a personable Key Largo property.
The owners of this intimate resort are former New Yorkers and art collectors who moved south to recreate an old-style, relaxed, Key Largo retreat. They tend personally to your needs whenever possible. The property is replete with trees and other flora, as well as an orchid greenhouse and tropical fruit garden. There’s also an established art gallery on the premises. Each of the eleven rooms features works from the gallery, and suites come with fully equipped kitchens and extras like CDs from local artists. To preserve privacy, daily maid service (fresh towels and 320 thread-count sheets) is available on request. In addition, there are no phones in the rooms, and children are not allowed. On-site diversions include complimentary kayaks and paddleboats; a special Everglades enviro-tour leaves the property every two hours daily. The resort is closed annually for the month of September.
