The Tides South Beach
Stately luxury and fine dining on Ocean Drive.
A streamlined mix of sophisticated glamour, classic Miami history and contemporary amenities and services, The Tides remains a prime choice for discerning executive and world-class leisure travelers alike. Built in the Art Deco style by master architect Lawrence Murray Dixon, the hotel's striking ten-story façade of limestone and white coral debuted in 1936 along South Beachs hip Ocean Drive. Its original 115 rooms have been converted into 45 spacious suites, which were renovated in 2008. The property's dramatic redesign was undertaken by tastemaker Kelly Wearstler, who built on the original Art Deco bone structure to re-dress the interiors in a rich strata of museum-quality artifacts. Her vision introduced an updated contemporary energy to the property, carefully respecting both its design origins and its easy beachfront spirit. Organic textures and sunset colors bring a sensuality to her erudite design and accentuate the ocean visible from every room. All suites include such amenities as high-tech entertainment systems, phone connections with fax/modem and voicemail options, mini-bars and plus oversized bathrooms stocked with plush robes and toiletries by Molton Brown. There is also wireless Internet access available throughout all guest room and public areas. In addition to its notable interior redesign, the hotel features sophisticated drinks and dining venues. A freshwater pool is located on the mezzanine, and the fitness center is on the ninth floor. The multilingual staff will deliver international magazines and daily newspapers on request. Guests can also rely on the support of their own personal assistant assigned to provide in-room butler services during their stay.
