Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

1600 Seven Seas Dr. (World Dr.) Lake Buena Vista FL

An impressive rainforest setting and exotica ambience---even to discerning Tikiphiles.

Built in 1971, during the hey-day of exotica and tiki culture, this hotel offers a larger-than-life experience in groovy nostalgia. Eleven enormous deep-brown and red Polynesian-style huts are named after islands in the South Pacific and painted with traditional native patterns. The vast lobby is modeled after a rain forest with its giant rock formations, a waterfall, free-flying parrots, over 75 different species of blooming tropical foliage and a skylight to illuminate it all While rooms don't feature anything out of the ordinary, the resort's Concierge rooms offer fringe benefits, such as a lounge providing continental breakfasts, midday snacks, wine and cheese hour and evening cordials and dessert. The grounds are dotted with flowering trees, cabanas, hammocks and large swings overlooking the 200-acre Seven Seas Lagoon, a mecca for water sports. A nightly luau featuring authentic fire and hula dancers is a mainstay.
