Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel

1500 Epcot Resorts Blvd. (E. Buena Vista Dr.) Lake Buena Vista FL

Tropical-themed architectural wonder geared more toward adults.

The view at Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel

Resembling some sort of tropical monolith inspired by the movie "Stargate," the Walt Disney World Dolphin is an impressive sight to see. Designed by famed architect Michael Graves, its giant 27-story triangular tower and 56-foot-tall quasi-dolphin statues create a look befitting a Las Vegas mega-resort. Although located conveniently between Epcot and MGM Studios, the Dolphin and its sister resort, the Swan, are not operated by Disney. Instead, they are managed by the Starwood Hotels & Resorts group, which allows Starwood Preferred Guests, Sheraton SCI and Westin Premier members certain benefits and the opportunity to earn miles. Guests still enjoy the same complimentary Disney transportation to "World" attractions like other on-site resorts. Tropically-themed rooms offer many of the amenities common to Starwood hotels, including their Heavenly Beds. There are seventeen dining options between the Dolphin and Swan resorts, not to mention the countless others at the nearby Disney hotels, Epcot and MGM. The Dolphin's Shula's Steak House and chef Todd English's bluezoo are two of the top restaurants at Disney World. The resort is a business-convention favorite offering 329,000 square feet of space, including a large exhibit hall, three ballrooms and more than 80 meeting rooms. The Dolphin is probably not the best choice for kids, though, since it lacks some of that indescribable Disney magic.
