The Westin Buckhead Atlanta
Magnificent architectural design allows for splendid views at this modern hotel.
Designed and built in 1991 as the Swissôtel, the Westin has retained the art-filled environment that originally made this property so distinctive. As you enter and mount the curved stair, look to your right and admire the Kimo Minton sculpture. On a coffee table in the vehicle pick-up lobby, a superb Harvey Littleton shimmering blue glass sculpture sits atop a coffee table. Black-and-white photographs of Pablo Picasso in his studio pop up on hallway walls. The 365 rooms and eleven suites are scheduled for an upgrade, but the project already is finished in the meeting rooms and other public spaces. The top floors host the 33-room concierge level, featuring a club area open 24 hours with complimentary breakfast, drinks, snacks and Wi-Fi. We love the suites that offer a Murphy bed, which disappears into the wall when its occupant needs to welcome guests for a business session. Fido can even enjoy the luxury of this hotel with his own Heavenly Bed. A branch of Palm, a well-known steakhouse, features fine fare and wine. Popular for weddings, business gatherings and special events, the hotel is also top of the list for shoppers, since Phipps Plaza, Lenox Square and Lenox Marketplace are close at hand. As well, the upgraded Shops Around Lenox, where famed Atlanta designer Bill Hallman has a store, lies directly behind the hotel.
