Hampton Inn & Suites Jekyll Island
This family-friendly property sits close to the ocean and offers a bit of seclusion.
In 2010, on the footprint of a former Holiday Inn, Hampton Inn & Suites erected this low-rise modern hotel that's proud of its LEED certificaton. Lapped shingles and horizontal framing in three soft colors reflect ocean hues. Families like the moderate pricing, and seniors gather for bridge games. A good spot for budget weddings, the hotel has a single large meeting space for events. A 75-foot boardwalk connects the property to the oceanfront, as it wends its way through a lush treed canopy. Facing the rear of the property and a wooded view, 88 suites have balconies and sleeper sofas; eight of these are ADA conforming, although specific details vary among them. The remaining 50 standard rooms offer a king or two queens, and plush bedding includes duvets. Work desks with ergonomic chairs can be found in all accommodations. Pets are welcome for a $10 fee, and are limited to two 25-pound animals. The common areas include a full-service bar that offers light fare as well as beverages. Golf, tennis and other sports activities are available on the island close to the hotel. Operated by the State of Georgia, the Jekyll Island Authority charges an access fee to come onto the island.
