The Lodge on Little St. Simons Island
This exclusive nature retreat features unique outdoor activities throughout the year.
This all-inclusive island escape off the coast of Georgia takes guests back to a simpler time. With only 32 accommodations in all, charming lodge rooms and cottages feature rustic design accents and plenty of creature comforts, including coffee makers, bathrobes and fireplaces. Along with all meals and beverages including beer and wine, rates include twice-daily naturalist-led excursions and the use of bikes, fishing tackle, motorized skiffs and kayaks.
Meals consist of regional fare prepared by house chefs using local seafood and produce, and a social hour of wine and hors d'oeuvres precedes the dinner hour, with oyster roasts on Fridays. Many nature lovers come to the island for exceptional birding, as the location sits on the Atlantic Migratory Flyway. Fishing, beach-combing and tidewater exploration are also big draws. Conservation is a priority, right down to the recycling of old linens for use as rags. The island is privately owned, adding to the intimate atmosphere.
