Hotel Wailea Maui

555 Kaukahi St. (Kalai Waa St.) Wailea HI

Serenity, elegance and all-suite accommodations with soaring views of the Wailea coastline.

This relaxing hideaway opened in 1990 and remains one of Wailea's best-kept secrets --- probably because it's not on the beach. The hotel is perched 300 feet above the coastline, and many of its suites have jaw-dropping views of Kahoolawe and Molokini. You can even see into Molokini’s tiny, crescent-shaped islet from this height. A hypnotic waterfall, complete with koi ponds, spills downward from the entryway through tropical foliage, underneath a restaurant and around exquisite Japanese gardens. The lobby area and entrance are enormous rotundas roofed with Chinese slate and supported by impressive coral pillars. Many of the guests are Japanese, as the hotel is owned by a Japanese corporation. There are only 72 luxury one-bedroom suites on nearly 15 acres. The 720-square-foot suites boast whitewashed hardwood floors, Travertine stone, central air-conditioning, two LCD TVs each, soaking tubs, microwaves and SubZero fridges and freezers. For dining, Capische? serves fine Italian cuisine reliant on fresh island seafood and produce. Guests enjoy unlimited use of the Japanese spa, a magnificent amenity with waterfall massage showers, an extra-large Jacuzzi and a Finnish-style sauna. Men and women have separate spa facilities. Appealing extras include a complimentary outrigger canoe experience every Wednesday and exclusive access to the Hotel Wailea Beach Club.
