Outrigger Palms at Wailea
Plush condos poised between Kihei and Wailea.
One of the newer luxury condominium developments in the Wailea area, the Palms is within walking distance of the beach along a tree-lined avenue. The white and very contemporary buildings hug the hillside and are built to catch every breeze. There are approximately 85 units in the resort program, managed by Hawaii's Outrigger group. Most of the spacious condos have air-conditioning in the master bedroom only, although central air is available in a few units for a nightly surcharge. Amenities include fully equipped kitchens and optional maid service that can be tailored to meet your needs. The property's oversized swimming pool is relatively uncrowded, which is an added bonus. Families are welcome and kids receive complimentary Island Explorer activity packs upon arrival.
When we last visited the Maui Brewing Co.'s brew pub in Lahaina, we were thrilled to hear this small company was making plans to package and sell their handcrafted product on the open market. Visitors to Hawaii have long enjoyed this microbrew's quality, but now it is steadily growing its market off the island.
When we think of vodka and pineapple, many good things come to mind: a tropical cocktail that combines the neutral spirit with pineapple juice, preferably served with a tiny umbrella; a pineapple-infused vodka; or biting into a pineapple that's been soaked in vodka for an adult tropical treat. But we never thought of vodka actually made from pineapple!
