This trendy, playful Virgin Hotels outpost hits a home run in the Windy City.
When this Virgin property opened, it set out to revolutionize the hotel scene in the same way owner Richard Branson modernized the way we think about air travel --- with stylish new amenities and innovative features. The Chicago hotel is the company’s first in the world (not counting the ultra-exclusive Limited Edition collection). The 1929 former Dearborn Bank building is now equipped with state-of-the-art technology (think blazing-fast, always-free Wi-Fi and the “Lucy” app that guests can use to customize their stays). The Loop location couldn’t be better, within easy walking distance of popular Chicago destinations such as Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile shopping, museums and restaurants. On-site, the 250 accommodations and common spaces boast edgy, modern décor and contemporary design; chamber-style rooms include dressing areas and sleeping “lounges” with a set of privacy doors in between. Virgin satisfies the appetite with Miss Ricky's (a creative take on the traditional diner), the nightly cocktail hour in the Commons Club, the Rooftop Bar, and Two Zero Three (coffee by day, wine by night). No need to leave Fido at home; pets are warmly welcomed here.
