Dauphine Orleans Hotel
An atmospheric hotel filled with original architectural details.
Dripping with atmosphere, this rambling hotel boasts some walls that date as far back as the 1800s. As much as possible, the owners show off original features such as exposed brick and cypress and pine beams. Furnishings in the 25 patio rooms and 86 standard rooms (in an annex across Dauphine Street) are traditional in style, with king-size beds with polished-wood headboards. The Bordello Suite is prettier and more understated than one would expect from its name. Guest can enjoy a welcome beverage at the charming bar, May Baily's Place, once one of the better known bordellos in the Storyville red light district. Complimentary breakfast is served in the Audubon Room, where John James Audubon painted his Birds of America series. On-site parking is a plus, as are afternoon tea, free Wi-Fi and a lending library.
