La Maison Marigny
A quiet, bougainvillea-bedecked Bourbon Street B&B.
This Queen Anne-style house offers an ultra-private, restful retreat at the residential side of Bourbon on the border of the happening Marigny neighborhood. At this quiet end of the Quarter, guests can hear the clip-clopping of horse-drawn carriages more often than the expected Bourbon Street revelry. Once you cross Esplanade Avenue, the Faubourg Marigny is a lovely residential neighborhood. Within this entirely non-smoking bed-and-breakfast, hardwood floors, twelve-foot ceilings and antique or reproduction beds give each room Old World character. Italian tiled bathrooms, oversized cotton towels, central air-conditioning and modem access provide modern conveniences. Breakfast features homemade muffins and other pastries; for dinner, guests can walk to nearby eateries such as Eat New Orleans on Dauphine and Mona Lisa on Royal. Music lovers will appreciate being able to stroll a few blocks to Frenchmen Street. A two- or three-night minimum stay is required, depending on season.
