This classy hotel hits all the right notes with its seductive public spaces and tasteful accommodations.
The Renaissance Pere Marquette, located in a 1925 building next to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, provides subtle sophistication for upscale travelers and tons of meeting space for those doing business (nine rooms to be exact, and they fill up quickly). The lobby sets the tone with its displays of local artwork and cozy seating areas done in jewel box colors. Higher up, each floor is named after a jazz legend, and in keeping with this theme, guests are greeted with jazz trivia with their wake-up calls.
Because the building once contained offices, there are some curious floor designs, but style-wise, accommodations are stellar, done in loads of refreshing white with chocolate accent furnishings and the occasional dramatic detail like a bright red chandelier. Herman Aeron Miller desk chairs complement work desks, and additional amenities feel countless: bathrobes, umbrellas, snack bars, safes, in-room movies, two-line phones with data ports and so on. The fitness center is small, and there is also a modest-sized pool. Both locals and guests flock to Oyster Counter + Tap Room, a modern take on the classic oyster bar. In addition, New Orleans Coffee & Beignet Company is open for breakfast and lunch on-site.
