The McKendrick-Breaux House
A quiet B&B in the middle of a charming residential neighborhood.
With its centerpiece --- the McKendrick-Breaux House --- this Greek Revival complex of two 1850s-1860s homes sets a standard for the Lower Garden District's restoration movement. Decorated in the Victorian style, the public rooms are inviting and conducive to quiet moments of reading or conversing with fellow guests. A landscaped courtyard with a pond and a hot tub provides a restful retreat between the two houses. There are nine guest rooms, three with private entrances from the courtyard. Bedrooms are furnished in antiques and reproductions. Each displays notable splashes of color and architectural detailing. In the bathrooms, you will find such hotel-style extras as hair dryers, terry robes and slippers. The property is located on historic Magazine Street, known for its antique stores, art galleries and cafés.
