Top 10 Bed & Breakfasts in New Orleans
House of the Rising Sun Bed & Breakfast
An out of the fray B&B in historic Algiers Point.
Located in Algiers Point, a short ferry ride across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter, this three-room B&B is a sweet home base for exploring the region. On-site hosts Wendy Portier Herridge, of Houma, Louisiana (Cajun Country), and her husband Kevin Herridge, a Cockney from the UK, are helpful and wonderfully knowledgeable about the area. The rooms are charming, done up in rich colors, four-poster beds and artwork. One has a private bath down the hall; the others are en suite. A healthy breakfast spread is offered daily (granola, yogurt and the like), and there’s also free Wi-Fi and free bottled water. There are no TVs in the rooms, but there is a communal TV in the living room and comfy porches for relaxing. This place is not a good choice if you plan to stay out late partying every night, but if you’ll be touring and want a quieter home base, it's a great option. There are even a few good local watering holes within walking distance. Algiers Point has loads of nineteenth-century village charm, and guests will want to make sure and explore the Jazz Walk of Fame along the levee.
