Top 10 Spa Hotels in New Orleans
Home to a beloved bar in the French Quarter.
Unlike most French Quarter hotels with long pedigrees, this property does not have a jumbled history of multiple owners and uses. The Monteleone has always been the Monteleone, although a $64 million renovation in 2012 saw the installation of marble and granite in the bathrooms and a refurbished lobby complete with an iconic grand clock. The hotel was opened by an Italian immigrant in 1886 and is still owned and run by his family. It exudes a sense of tradition with its formal street façade and marble-encrusted lobby. Because of additions, refurbishments and many face-lifts over the years, the upstairs hallways can be a confusing maze, and room sizes vary. Décor is fairly standard in muted tones. Business travelers appreciate accommodations wired for computers, fax and voice mail. Of note is the terrific rooftop pool. As for the signature bar, the Carousel Lounge, it is a perennial local favorite.
