Authentic Nantucket charm in the island's historic harbor area.
Given that Archaelus Hammond, this inn's original owner, was the first to kill a sperm whale in the Pacific Ocean, it's no surprise that this establishment enjoys a longstanding relationship with the sea. In fact, each of the eleven rooms is named after one of Captain Hammond's whaling ships. The inn is tucked into Nantucket's historic district, a short walk from Children's Beach, Jetties Beach and Brant Point. Antique paneling and wood floors adorn the interior. Rooms reflect local influences with four-poster antique beds, Nantucket quilts and patterned rugs. All are air-conditioned and include private baths. Guests are greeted each morning by the strains of classical music and the smell of fresh-baked goods. Complimentary breakfast can be enjoyed on the screened-in porch or by the fireplace in the common room during the cooler months. In the summer, beach towels are provided. The inn caters mainly to adult visitors.
