A local legend in Victorian Stillwater.

William Sauntry Mansion

This 1890 Queen Anne- and Eastlake-style mansion once belonged to a lumber baron---thus it's name. Among its many treasures are 10 fireplaces, numerous stained-glass windows and a painted canvas ceiling. The floors are made of elaborate parquet, the chandeliers are original and the woodwork showcases cherry and oak. With its wrap-around porch and gingerbread architecture, the exterior is equally picturesque. All of the accommodations are delightful, but kindlers of romance should check into the Ellen or Madam LaFuegy rooms, which have double whirlpools, fireplaces and exotic beds. All of the rooms include private baths, although two are located down the hall. Morning coffee service begins at eight, followed by a full gourmet breakfast at nine.
