Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa
Southwest luxury and cultural enlightenment with stunning mountain views.
In the Santa Ana Pueblo, which is on the edge of the town of Bernalillo about twenty miles north of Albuquerque, this cushy resort is situated on 500 acres --- there's nothing like it elsewhere in the state. The spacious rooms with deluxe pillowtop beds and, in many cases, balconies, have been decorated with natural materials such as Native American-inspired tapestries and natural stone. Some rooms face the spectacular Sandia Mountains, while others look at cottonwood trees or the outstanding golf course next door. This is a great family resort, with cultural activities led by the Santa Ana tribal members on staff; you might give tribal dance or pottery-making a try, for instance. Adding to the kid-friendly factor are babysitting services, storytelling and a trio of pools (one with a waterslide). Other amenities include stables offering horseback rides; a first-rate spa providing wonderful facials, massages and other treatments; and Corn Maiden restaurant turning out decadent, globally inspired fare. In the evening, relax on the patio with a pomegranate mojito and watch the sunset. The meeting areas are top-notch and extensive, and a complimentary shuttle transports guests to Santa Ana Star Casino, which is a short drive away.
