Historic Plaza Hotel
An historic Victorian hotel overlooking the prettiest plaza in New Mexico.
The Plaza Hotel is a true stunner—a three-story Italianate Victorian building that fronts the elegant and historic Plaza of Las Vegas, New Mexico, a small and increasingly artsy town an hour's drive east of Santa Fe and 90 minutes southeast of Taos. The 36 rooms in this 1882 structure are comfortably, if not necessarily fancily, furnished with Victorian-style wallpapers and linens, tall antique armoires, and cable TV, Wi-Fi, and phones. The best—and most spacious—rooms overlook the Plaza and have plenty of room to spread out and plush sofas to relax on. On the ground floor, the elegant yet informal restaurant, the Landmark Grill, serves juicy steaks, chops, and seafood dishes plus a nice mix of pastas and New Mexican-inspired dishes. The hotel is within walking distance of several fine galleries and antiques shops, plus a handful of funky cafes and old-fashioned restaurants.
