Top 10 Boutique Hotels in Santa Fe
Hotel St. Francis
Affordable elegance just steps from the historic Santa Fe Plaza.
If you're seeking a good value while still wanting historic character and convenience to downtown Santa Fe's plethora of prestigious galleries, sophisticated restaurants, and intriguing museums, this 1923 three-story hotel is a perfect choice. The St. Francis is less expensive than many downtown competitors, and correspondingly, the size of the rooms and overall level of service aren't quite at the level of some other properties nearby. But it's an excellent value, and the 82 rooms and suites do have high ceilings, fine art, Victorian antiques and period reproductions, and brass or iron beds with comfy throw pillows. In the petite but attractive bathrooms, you'll find original white tiling as well as pedestal sinks finished in marble or porcelain. There's a convivial bar that serves wines by the glass, cocktails, and several local and imported beers on tap as well as decent food, plus a well-regarded full-service restaurant. And in the dramatic, high-ceilinged lobby, with its armchairs and red-tile floor, afternoon tea (complete with finger sandwiches and decadent desserts) is served daily. The Territorial-style building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
