Moderate Hotels in Santa Fe
Hotel Santa Fe, The Hacienda & Spa
An upscale downtown hotel offers an up-close encounter with Native American culture.
This low-rise, Pueblo-inspired property on the edge of the funky Guadalupe District offers two distinct lodging experiences. Stay in the newer Hacienda Wing, where there are 35 extra-large rooms and suites, and enjoy the personal touch of butler service and such upscale touches as corner fireplaces, ceremonial blankets, and balconies. The rest of the hotel's 95 rooms aren't quite so fancy, but they're still extremely comfortable and elegantly furnished, and they represent one of the better values among upscale Santa Fe properties. The hotel is operated by the Picuris Pueblo, which imbues the place with Native American style, from the handcrafted furnishings to the Indian paintings. Additionally, Picuris traditional dances are held at the hotel from spring through fall, and a number of other cultural events take place, from fluting demonstrations to lectures and storytelling. The restaurant, Amaya, serves superb contemporary Southwestern fare. The Hotel Santa Fe sits at the edge of the trendy Guadalupe neighborhood, a nifty design district with a bounty of great restaurants, bars, antiques shops and offbeat boutiques.
