Victorian luxury under the stars in an artsy village north of Taos.
The views from this lavish B&B in tiny Arroyo Seco, an artsy little village midway between the town of Taos and the Taos Ski Valley, are alone worth the price of staying here. Rooms offer stunning vistas of the Sangre de Cristos and the high desert that spans for miles west of town. The inn sits on four rural acres surrounded by sage brush, and there's plenty of room to laze in the sun on one of the porches or in the courtyard, with its fountain and hot tub. Some rooms open onto the courtyard, and all are filled with large, elaborate beds with down duvets and high-thread-count linens. They also have radiant-heat tile floors, European antiques, tall windows allowing plenty of light, Bose stereos, and bathrooms with whirlpool tubs and separate walk-in showers. It's about a twenty-minute drive to downtown Taos, and little Arroyo Seco has a handful of fine galleries, shops, and restaurants. The three-course breakfasts here are memorable and might include such delicacies as apricot-orange smoothies, French toast with pecans, or stuffed croissant Florentine.
