A nice alternative to the frenzy of bayside stays.
The ocean waters here may be wilder than those in the island’s opposite bay, but life on this side is calmer, by far. This is arguably the most tranquil spot in Cherry Grove, filled with people who enjoy fume-free air, long beach walks and none of the frills or thrills of bayside accommodations. Do-it-yourself may not be the first thing that comes to mind for dining, given the array of restaurants on the island. But the kitchen apartments here are designed so that you can make yourself right at home. The same thinking supports the unfinished wooden decks. Nearby attractions include the Cherry Grove Arts Project, Island Repertory, newly restored Fire Island Lighthouse and stunning Sunken Forest National Park. There is a two-night minimum stay required; holiday weekends require a three-night minimum.
