A sprawling, woodsy retreat overlooking Shinnecock Bay.
More than half a century old, this family-owned-and-operated inn sits on five acres of rolling green hillside perched between a bay and an ocean. While it makes the most of its bucolic setting, beginning with a faux windmill, its woodsy feel is more suited to the Catskills than a location eight miles from the Atlantic. Towering pine trees, vaulted wood beam ceilings and on-site antique shops set an old-fashioned tone. The 30 rooms are airy and tastefully decorated with Tiffany lamps and four-poster mahogany beds. Amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi among other essentials. The owners offer plenty for relaxation, too: a shuffleboard court, outdoor pool and playground for little ones. Breakfasts indulge with specialties such as eggs Benedict and berries and cream. The inn is closed during the off-season.
