Best Western Gregory Hotel
The charm of a boutique with the prices of a budget chain.
In 1986 a fire destroyed the interior of the former Hotel Gregory, but the 1926 exterior remained intact. With just 70 rooms, this place comes as close as a locally managed chain ever could to a boutique hotel. It does a brisk business that is half leisure (the hotel puts on tons of weddings) and half corporate. For the latter, there are three meeting rooms with Internet access. To get anywhere outside of residential Bay Ridge, the R subway line is only two blocks away. The three bridal suites are stocked with king-sized beds and Jacuzzis for two. The one-bedroom suite has a separately walled living room area with a pullout sofa bed for two. The regular rooms have one king, one queen or two doubles beds. If you request a business room, you'll get the added benefit of a two-line speaker phone. There isn't a gym on the premises, but show your room card at the Dolphin Fitness Center three blocks away, and you can work out for ten dollars.
