No-frills budget traveler lodgings.
If you like the hubbub that comes with Midtown Manhattan and Times Square, then this reasonably priced hostel is your best bet. Just don’t ask the staff too many questions at one time. Inquiries about rates, for example, are tersely diverted with a point of a finger to the posted chart behind the desk. For a hostel, the private two-person rooms are surprisingly comfortable. Count on finding cable TV, an alarm clock and a phone in private rooms --- you even get free local calls. Just don’t expect the rooms to have private bathrooms. The single-sex and co-ed dormitory accommodations are clean and cheerfully decorated. The hostel provides some common space, such as a kitchen and a lounge with Internet access. All sleeping rooms have air-conditioning.
