Chelsea chic meets country décor.
This European-style hotel is housed in a gorgeous brick building on a relatively quiet street. The owners, Paul and G.G. Weisenfeld, are friendly and glad to help orientate first-time New York visitors. Best of all, the cheap room rates are sure to put a smile on the face of any bargain-hungry traveler. The 22 rooms were recently renovated and are nicely decorated in country-style Americana. Rooms come with washbasins and showers, but they have shared toilets. Ceiling fans, air conditioning and soft, comfortable beds add a touch of luxury not usually expected at such bargain rates. It’s best to book at least four weeks in advance.
