City View Inn
Convenient to airports and the sights of Manhattan.
The quaint-looking square brick building that houses this budget hotel is located in a community of row houses. And according to the real estate pundits, Long Island City is the most up-and-coming neighborhood in all of New York. It's a ten-minute subway ride to midtown Manhattan and offers access to a smattering of good ethnic restaurants. The location is also conveniently near P.S. 1 Contemporary Art Center, the Noguchi Museum and Shea Stadium. There is nothing luxurious about these rooms, which are clean, mid-sized and plainly decorated. But nice little touches differentiate the property from many of the nearby same-range hotels. If you don't feel like going to the in-house exercise facility, you can have a bike brought up to your room. Business folk beware --- the meeting space accommodates no more than 15. RV parking and free parking, Wi-Fi and local calls (under 30 minutes) are nice extras.
